Sussex Teen Pulls Fake Gun on Car, Police Say
A Sussex teenager, 18, is accused of standing out of a sunroof of a car and pointing a fake shotgun at another car driving past.
An 18-year-old Sussex man is accused of pointing a fake gun at a man while he was driving through the village.
Shane R. Taylor was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Wednesday with one count of disorderly conduct. If convicted, he faces up to 90 days in jail and $1,000 in fines.
According to the criminal complaint:
At 6:15 p.m. Sept. 12, a man was driving eastbound near Linda Drive and Waukesha Avenue, when he saw a car driving towards him, then saw a man stand up through the sunroof and point a shotgun at him. The man saw the car do a U-turn at Maple Avenue, then come up again on him at a high rate of speed, then saw the same man stand out of the sunroof and point the gun at him again, so he contacted the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department, which traced the car back to a residence on Prides Road and found a fake gun inside the car .
A man who lives there said he and his brother and Taylor were working on a car and Taylor was playing with a toy gun. They were testing out the car and Taylor brought the gun with him on the ride, but he said he didn’t notice what Taylor was doing.
Taylor admitted to pointing the fake gun at the car, saying he thought he recognized it.
He will make his initial appearance in court Dec. 10.
