Sussex Man Hits Girlfriend, Cuts Wrists After Being Late For Work
A local resident is accused of becoming belligerent and tossing bleach on a television after he gets upset for waking up late for work.
A 23-year-old Sussex man is facing charges after he allegedly tossed bleach on a flat screen television, then hit his fiancé, and when she called police, he began cutting his own wrists.
According to the criminal complaint, the man—who isn’t being identified by Patch in order to protect the identity of the victim—woke up at 7 a.m. June 20 and realized he was late for work. He became upset after he couldn’t find his or his fiancé’s cell phones, so he began throwing electronic items around their apartment on the N23300 block of Clover Drive, before he sprayed bleach on the TV.
He then punched the victim in her rib cage while he was holding a belt in his fist, which caused the belt buckle to make an impression on the woman.
The victim told the man she was going to call police, so he pushed her aside, grabbed a kitchen knife and began to cut his wrists, saying he wanted to die. He begged her to not call police, but when she did, he swatted the phone from her hands.

When Waukesha County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the apartment, the suspect remained uncooperative and tried to slip out of his handcuffs. After being placed in the back of a squad car, he kept taking off his seat belt, then hit his head against the window before trying to kick it out with his feet.
Police were forced to place him in a restraint device before taking him to Waukesha County Jail.
The man was charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court Friday with one count of battery domestic abuse and one count of disorderly conduct domestic abuse. He faces up to one year in prison and $11,000 in fines if convicted. He’s currently free on $1,500 signature bond.
