There were so many Walker signs on the lawns in Merton that they probably outnumbered the population.

Leave them up. They can be altered to read "Take the Stand With Walker" just in case.

We had to deal with 16 months of recall nonsense. If people want to leave up their support signs for the Governor.....so be it!

I keep my sign up to make a statement, according to the GAB I can legally do so. ( it is not an election sign )
I want to remind people who signed the recall petition how stupid they were, hopefully they will learn after it sinks in.

interesting how the areas with the heaviest concentrations of WEALTHY individuals voted the most for Walker. Guess that shows who he really represents. The wealthy and the corporations. if slashing education funds to give tax breaks to corporations is Walkers idea of "moving forward" .... well.... enough said.

Debbie - you clearly only read headlines and don't understand economics. What's by far the largest part of the education budget for each and every district? Teacher's salaries and benefits. They're taken off the top - first. He didn't "slash education" He curtailed spending on the teachers benefits and wages by stopping collective bargaining. Those are not the same things! Every other thing that you read about is a district by district decision. Teachers are paid an average of $60ish thousand per year for 8 months of work! (don't forget 2 weeks at Christmas, spring break, etc) plus their benefits are, even after the cuts, still on average 29% better than private sector employees - you know, the ones who actually foot the tax bill.

Tax breaks to big corporations are what get companies to move their operations to Wisconsin. This creates jobs - both for that employer, but also increases spending in the areas for new home construction, etc. This whole process is employed by democrats, too you know. Well not lately anyway, because they don't care about the economy.

Look at an election result map for the entire state of Wisconsin. GOVERNOR SCOTT WALKER turned almost all the counties red except for Milw. area and Dane county as well as a few up in the northern most region.

I wouldn't say Muskego is actually wealthy, maybe doing OK, but not wealthy. We have people in Muskego from all income levels and groups. Still, Walker got 73.1 % of the vote. Even in my lower middle class neighborhood, the Walker signs were prominent. What do you consider wealthy, debbie?

It's called taking back the money that the Union Money Machine, WEA Trust, took over the years for insurance over payments by the School District Taxpayers! There have been no cuts in education, only in Corrupt Union Black Mail payments!

also interesting how all of the bad news is coming out now - districts laying off teachers, custodians, unemployment rate staying steady, no one mentioned that the reason your property taxes went down is because your property VALUE went down - we'll see how the "tools" really play out.

property values went down because we're in a recession - something Obama doesn't seem to care about. After all, he said the "private sector is doing fine" Riiigght...

Yes, and what you also don't realize is although our property values have gone down over the years (because of foreclosures, recession, etc.), our taxes still went up until this year! Local governments cranked up the rates when we should have felt a break and they had to, to cover their expenses to run each city, school, etc. We needed Walker to put us on the right path. He evened the playing ground, eliminated a debt that not only our children would have been paying for, but the affects would have been felt for generations after that. He had to make the tough decisions, did it make him popular??? yes and no, but I respect the fact he had enough balls to do what others should have done in years past. That says alot!!

Hey, I've got an idea! How 'bout we let all the illegal aliens come into the country and take our jobs, get free health care and vastly reduced education? Oh yeah, the President is doing that today! Now, even less Americans will have employment, more houses will go into foreclosure, more property values will go down and we'll see how many more teachers can be thrown under the bus by the Progressive party!

@C T --Here's an even better idea -- let's lower wages and compensation so much that even the illegals won't want the jobs. That should make good job-creators like Dianne Hendricks and the Kochs very happy.

brooke, I don't think you understand how property taxes work. Was your property reassessed this year? Did you know that if every property in your community lost 50% of its value, you would pay exactly the same amount for property tax, as you did with the higher value?
Maybe instead of voter I.D., we should require Civics 101, prior to voting.

@Brooke - property value fluctuations have basically nothing to do with your property taxes, assuming that the value fluctuations are similar among all properties in a given municipality.

Brooke, my taxes went up for five years while my home value dropped over 30 percent... That's all obamas fault for not having any stability in this country... And how is it bad news that schools are trimming the fat from their budgets so the working half can afford their taxes? I sure love the news that I have to support less worthless public employees so my money can stay in my pocket!!!

Brooke: A lesson on property taxes. It has very little to do with the value. If the values go down, the mill rate goes up to offset the difference. The taxes will not change. Under Walker, we have an end to ever rising taxes. My assessed value is unchanged, but my taxes went down because of Act-10. If your taxes went up, it is likely because your School District is a bunch of dumb asses. If there were layoffs, so be it. The private sector has taken a hit too. My district had a few layoffs too- not because of funding issues, but because of declining enrollment.
FYI: What your home is assessed for is not the true value of the home, in many cases it is a completely meaningless number. I am Happy- my taxes went down with no service cuts. I would be more than happy to sell my home for the assessed value.

The Anti-Alinsky

brooke, the thing to look at is the overall tax levy. Individual property taxes will fluctuate because your assessed values may rise slightly faster than your neighbors. But typically most will go up about the same percent

Lets say the property values of a community uniformly go down 10%. If the tax LEVY stays the same, everyone will stay the same as the previous year. In this scenario, the mill rate will go up about 10%, which some people mistakenly see as an increase.

When Governor Walker stated that property tax levies decreased across the state, it means taxpayers as a whole payed less than we did last year. In my case it was close to $100, which is a good start.

It's not just the kids. There are others that sat on their couch, collecting unemployment, waiting to get a cushy job again. I hooked-up two different people with good jobs, both were unemployed and needed training. They went to companies and said that they would "work" for free, during their training period. This was enough of an incentive for them to get hired, but it took initiative on their part.

Don
Debbie - It's not so much that the wealthy (and I might add the educated) voted for Walker, but who voted for Barrett? The uneducated, unemployed and unmotivated. Think about it. They need the democrats to keep their gravy train running, but they couldn't be trusted to actually go through the trouble of voting, so they were bused to and from. That's your democratic base. OUCH!
