UPDATE: Police Respond to Armed Robbery at PNC Bank

Little is known at this point, but police have confirmed an armed robbery occurred at the location.

A second armed robbery in a week has occured in Falls.

According to Menomonee Falls Police Capt. Mark Waters, there was an armed robbery at the bank at  3:28 p.m. Friday.

Waters said two black males entered the bank and implied that they had a weapon. Both men had their faces covered with handkerchiefs. The man made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot toward Lime Kiln Park.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation overheard Falls radio traffic and assisted with the call. Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage from the bank, but the suspects remain at large.

Witnesses in the area were told to stay in their homes, and armed officers patrolled the area near Lime Kiln Park, Appleton Avenue, and Mill Street.

A witness driving by said several squad cars were parked and officers had guns drawn along Appleton Avenue.

As of 4 p.m. Friday, police were still searching for suspects in the immediate area.

On Thursday, police responded to an armed robbery at Petro Mart just a few blocks away from PNC Bank. Police are still searching for that suspect. Waters said there's no indication that there's any connection between the PNC Bank robbery and Thursday's robbery.

I do not remember any other armed robberies in Village since I moved here in 2000. Wonder if this is an uptic in violence or pure coincidence.

There have been very few armed robberies in the 28 years that I have lived here. Now there has been two in two days. I hope that trend doesn't continue.

Best wishes to our law enforcement officers out there on the front line dealing with such things, plus dangerous traffic stops, domestic disputes, et al.

Every once in a while you hear someone say Menomonee Falls is over policed. I feel, ...okay, so what if it is. That's a good thing! Keep in mind that this village is on the northwest border of a metropolitan city. I give our police department credit for keeping the Falls as nice as it is, considering that fact.

I'm confident these criminals will be caught. Our police department doesn't look the other way after a certain amount of time either. Anyone being looked for by our law enforcement will be caught. It's just a matter of time.

There's something about Menomonee Falls that criminals don't know. This isn't just a village, ...this is a 'COMMUNITY'.

People with information on these crimes know what to do.

Take care everyone. Be safe, and always help and support the police.

Dually noted, except when you say we're on the border of a metropolitan city, just phrase it as "third-world country".

Yet another reason why our police department is god awful. Always worrying about underage drinking parties, kids toilet papering their own friends houses, and I have even been pulled over WALKING home from the bars and I am of age. Worry about guys with guns robbing places instead of the 19 year old thats getting drunk.

Was over by my buddys apartment two weeks ago. We saw one MFPD car pull up, then three more along with the Dog. Then the Motorcycle cop. So 5 cops and the dog, want to know why. A old guy had waked into the wrong apartment by mistake. This old guy does not have both oars in the water, a mistake on his part. He is no threat. Can you say OVERKILL.

Our police department doesn't seem concerned about crime but really hates it when my car doesn't have a front license plate. Guess what? It's not there again! Make me put it back on, fools.

DSS - I cannot disagree more with your comment. Our officers are working with less resources constantly revising priorities at a given point in time. If someone gets questioned regarding drinking or license plates, I give the officers credit. The officers are dealing with infractions as best they can. Sometimes that have to rush away from such "minor" infractions to deal with more important incidents. I fully support our police department.

DSS if you are 19 I believe the drinking age now is 21 so you actually aren't of age. Nuitari...I thought you didnt need to have a front license plate just the back. I could be wrong though.

Sussex had 2 bank robberies already this year, a bar robbery and something else I think a gas station robbery since April. I am not sure if they were armed robberies or not...some were only attempted...one of the bank ones the guy was caught immediately...but it was the same bank both times in April and July....lot more places being robbed lately i agree this didnt happen so often when I was younger or else I didn't pay attention.

Oh yes, a front license plate is required per state statute. The issue? In my 10 years of owning this car and driving it all over southeast Wisconsin, only Menomonee Falls Police have deemed it so important as to pull me over to inform me of it....TWICE. That is in addition to other times including having a temp plate in the rear window, and a minorily cracked windshield. They are all for harassment and not for solving crimes.

Nuitari...Maybe Im wrong...I thought my parents once told me you only needed one plate...don't remember if they said in front or back of car...I've always had both though so never worry.
