Pigskin, Green Beans Lead to Arrest of Sussex Man
A 50-year-old man was angry at his wife, so hit kicked her and hit her in the head with a water bottle, according to a criminal complaint.
A 50-year-old Sussex man’s displeasure that there wasn’t enough pigskin in his green beans ended in his arrest last month, according to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday.
The man, who Sussex Patch is not naming to protect the identity of his wife, is charged with battery-domestic abuse and disorderly conduct-domestic abuse. If convicted, he faces up to one year in jail and $11,000 in fines.
Sussex deputies were called to the man’s apartment in the W24100 block of Main Street after his wife left the building, crossed the street and contacted them about an incident on Jan. 13.
The woman told police he was angry that there wasn’t enough pigskin in his green beans, so she left him alone for a few hours.
She later was on the phone with their niece and the wife told the niece the husband was becoming easily upset. She asked the man if he wanted to talk to the niece, but he started yelling at her instead.
The man pushed her backward on the bed, she told police, and kicked her and hit her in the face with a water bottle.
The woman was unable to find her keys, so she walked across the street to contact police.
