The Sussex Rock-A-Thon was a huge success Tuesday afternoon, drawing out more than 150 people to the Village Hall’s front lawn for burgers, brats and live music.

The lunchtime event was serenaded by county duo Dante’s Bop as Sussex seniors and residents enjoyed the food, company and absolutely perfect weather. With temperatures reaching 80 degrees on Tuesday, the shade trees on the Village Hall’s front lawn provided the perfect atmosphere for some summer relaxation.

“We anticipate that about 150 people attended Tuesday which is approximately 40 people more than last year,” said Parks and Rec Director Amy Flaherty.

Seniors, families and police officers took turns “rocking out” on rocking chairs on the Main Street sidewalk, waving to drivers passing by. Also, Patch editors from Sussex, Menomonee Falls and Waukesha were serving up pink lemonade at the event, a perfect, refreshing treat for such a hot summer day.
