With their love of books and their passion for reading, Friends of the Pauline Haass Library present the annual Holiday Book and Bake Sale Nov. 19 through the 21.
The event will feature barely-used books, book related items and home baked goods donated by volunteers. All the proceeds will go to the Friends and in return will be used to fund special needs for the library.
Bev Schulz, member of the Friends of the Pauline Haas Public Library and chairperson for the Holiday Book and Bake Sale committee, explains the event supports the importance of a library in a community.
“We hold the event just because our love for books and our love of the library,” Schulz said.
Friends of the Pauline Haass Library is a voluntary non-profit organization that has supported the library for over 30 years. With well over 70 members, Friends has helped the library fund purchases that were not possible with the library's original budget.
With the success of the annual event, Schulz is thrilled to see the event grow.
“It’s always growing,” Schulz said. “More people are becoming aware of it and are starting to look forward to it.”
Schulz’s joy comes from the fulfillment of the organization’s goal, which is to bring awareness of the library and what it has to offer a community.
“We are fortunate to have such a wonderful library,” Schulz said.
During the event, volunteers will also be available to help renew library memberships.
