Dems Feel Left Out of County Election Equipment Discussion
County Executive Dan Vrakas consulted with Kathleen Novack, who is the Republican in the clerk's race in November, which has Democrats crying foul.
A state Democratic party official is asking the Waukesha County Chairman to explain why he consulted with the GOP County Clerk candidate, but not the Democrat, when proposing to purchase new election equipment.
JSOnline.com reported that County Chairman Dan Vrakas had included a $70,000 capital expenditure in the 2013 budget after discussing it with Kathleen Novack, the Republican nominee for county clerk, according to Vrakas chief of staff Shawn Lundie.
Democrat Jessie Read, her opponent in the November general election, was not similarly contacted, however, JSOnline.com reported.
A letter sent to Lundie from Jeff Christensen, Decmocratic chairman of Wisconsin's 5th Congressional District, explained that he was "strongly disappointed" that Read was not contacted by Vrakas as well.
"Now it was my deepest hope is that this was a simple oversight by the County Executive’s office and that if Ms. Read contacted the office, this same courtesy would be offered to her. After discussing this matter with Ms. Read, I was greatly disappointed that despite her reaching out to you personally, the same offer was not afforded to her," the letter stated.
Christensen also asked Lundie to provide some justification why Read was not contacted by Vrakas.
Lundie did not immediately respond to a request for comment left via voice mail Wednesday afternoon.
The $70,000 would pay for a consultant and would be part of the 2013-'17 capital plan Vrakas submitted to the County Board on Friday.
Waukesha County has been beset by election snafus, in part because of vote recording equipment that can no longer automatically transmit results to the county clerk's reporting software by modem, JSOnline.com reported.
The first year of the capital plan will be included in Vrakas' proposed 2013 county budget, to be submitted to the County Board for review in late September and adoption in November.

What 'new' election equipment is being considered? If it does not include paper ballots this voter will be very unhappy.

Ahh you caught Ryan with his hand in the cookie jar. Observe those on this thread like the anti Hoffa’s. Hoffa’s still can not define Business Closed! TRUE Obama said with government assistance they could save the auto plant. TRUE Ryan with his Sheepish vote stood with the shepherd Eric Cantor and Nay, Nay, Nay for all auto bail outs. Remember How Eric squashed all efforts for the president to bail out the auto industries?
http://youtu.be/kYwnZ_in6C8 How about the stimulus plan all republicans voted like sheep, Nay, Nay, Nay; And yet Ryan first in line with his pleading hands begging for the funds to create jobs and or save jobs. Obama gives him some. Guess where it went. Not to the auto plant. Try again.. How about that plant that just outsourced its manufacturing to Mexico? Republican senators “stood firm with Mitt Romney and his 1 percent lobbyist friends” when they successfully filibustered the Bring Jobs Home Act yesterday, [July 19 2012] . The bill would cut taxes for U.S. companies that bring jobs and business operations back to the United States and end tax loopholes that reward companies that ship jobs overseas. Now they want Tommy to come join the herd and Nay, Nay, Nay.
Obama was correct with government support they could have been saved “BUT” Ryan did not support the auto plant or the outsourcing of Jobs. Hey Ya’LL voted for it now suck it up. Not enough of No, No, leadership of {R} Go ahead cut your throats again and.........

Fiscal Year{ FY } in politics is from October to September. Bush presented Obama with a 9% constricting economy. Bush reieceved a 5.6 Trillion surplus to budget debt from Clinton. So lets take that and subtract what Bush debts were, that he handed over to Obama. Surplus of $5.6 Trillion plus all debts incurred since October 2008 to January 2009 and we come with a 5.6% reduction in debt to GDP. In 3.3 years Obama is at 15.1% to debt of GDP, from a 20.7% increase to debt by Bush and going rapidly down into the abyss.
Stimulus plan to revitalize the middle class produced a beneficial return on investment. We have seen an impressive recovery in the equity markets from Bush’s stock markets lost of 14 years of gains. Markets had retraced the lows back to 1996 in less than 17 months. Greatest lost ,in market value, in our Nations history. Obama’s actions helped restore equity markets post a gain of 105% through April of 2011. During Obama’s first 27 months in office.
Making up most of the losses with gains to the DOW of 17.2%, S&P 500 25.3% and the NASDAQ 31.7%. Compare this to say Reagan first 3.3 years in office Reagan’s gains to ; DOW 6.86%, S&P 500 6.16%, NASDAQ 7.02%. Obama has surpassed most of his predecessors, including Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan!
Stimulus also stopped the decline in corporate profits that started under George W. Bush. Stimulus helped produce an increase of 22% per year in the first two years.
Sure better than bushwacking !
