Chili Cook-Off Benefits the Food Pantry
The Sussex Lions Club will be having a chili cook-off to raise money and food donations for Sussex-area Outreach Services.
Sussex residents, prepare your taste buds.
The Sussex Lions Club is holding it's 28th annual chili cook-off on Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the Sussex Armory to raise money and awareness for the food pantry.
With the pantry's shelves at the Sussex-area Outreach Services extremely empty, there's no better time to have a community fundraiser. Although it's not unusual for the pantry to see a lull in donations this time of year, items are still flying off the shelves making this a very important fundraiser.
This is a public, important and fun event, with tickets costing $6 in advance or $7 at the door with a non-perishable food item. But if you think you have what it takes to compete in the cook-off, call Carol Braeger at (262) 246-3032. You could win a cash prize and a trophy for your winning recipe.
Advance tickets are available from Lions Club members, Ace Hardware, Associated Bank, the Sussex Food Pantry-Resource Center, and Piggly Wiggly. Children under 10-years-old get in for free.
Tickets include chili and soup, drinks and a dessert, but hot-dogs are also available for $1.
