Big Lots Opening Retail Store in Menomonee Falls
The closeout retailer hopes to open before Christmas in the North Pointe Centre across from Menomonee Falls High School. Jo-Ann Fabrics will also relocate into the same shopping center by spring 2013.
If you’ve driven past the North Pointe Centre across from Menomonee Falls High School over the past few weeks you’ve probably noticed there’s been construction activity inside the former Pick’n Save location.
Work crews are currently conducting a full-scale build out to accommodate spaces for Big Lots and Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store, which will both occupy the center by the beginning of 2013.
Big Lots will open its doors inside North Pointe before the Christmas shopping season. Big Lots currently operates two stores in Milwaukee and one store in West Allis. The company is the nation’s largest brand-name closeout retailer and operates more than 1,400 stores in 48 states. The store sells a variety of products including clothing, furniture, housewares, gifts, and groceries.
Jo-Ann Fabrics will move and open a little later, however. The fabric and craft store plans to move from its current location in Falls, N84W1560 Appleton Ave., into the North Pointe Centre by spring of 2013.
For roughly two years - since the Super Pick’n Save opened across the street - the shopping center has been home to one of the larger vacancies in Falls. CBRE Commercial Real Estate representative Sandy Golden said the new additions are welcome businesses on Northpoint Drive.
“We’re very excited about these two tenants for the shopping center,” Golden said. “This should be exciting for the community and exciting for the smaller businesses that are in that shopping center. They will generate a lot of vehicle and foot traffic for that side of town.”
The North Pointe Centre is currently home to several smaller retailers including Cost Cutters, Hallmark, Elite Nails, The Great Frame Up and a UPS Store.

There goes the neighborhood. Should have had this on Main St so they could all be in a row.

I would have thought this was a prime location for a sporting goods store such as a Dunhams or something in the midrange level. Menomonee Falls does not have this choice today. Big Lots? Hmmmm, better than a Salvation Army store. We need to be mindful of how many low end retailers we have in the Falls.

Not foolish at all. The Falls is becoming a magnet to the hood. How come Brookfield doesn't have such trash? High-end commercial developing. We tried that here though. It's called a Radisson.

One thing I love about the Falls is its small businesses, things are changing.

Big Lots is a store full of stuff that no one wanted to buy somewhere else, so they sell it to Big Lots. I do wish something a bit nicer would have come to that space. It will be nice to have JoAnn Fabrics move to a better space.

Actually they already do have bus stops, and even though I'm not with the Tea Party, any sensible person knows what trash comes from the east to visit our low-end retailers.

Why should the taxpayers in Milwaukee county be on the hook for bus service outside of their county?

An empty building is better than a "low end" retailer? Jo Ann Fabric is a "low end" retailer? Have you ever seen their mega store in Brookfield?

I am so disappointed to hear this. We live just a few blocks away and our property value will now decrease!!!! Horrible!

Nuitari - you disgust me with your comments. "Hood" "Trash" Nice to see how you speak of your fellow human beings. I always say, "You can learn a lot about someone's character by how they treat and speak of others."

I'm happy to say that I live in the Falls and I'm excited about this Big Lots. The only people who are trash are those who think their crap doesn't stink, like they are above all else. Welcome all you Milwaukee people and happy shopping!

It's the nature of the internet, April. I share your frustration at both what and how some people decide to express themselves. I guess the "comfort" in it is that this is the price of a free society, and that means we pay the price of that freedom in ways large and small. People feel that, uninformed or misinformed as they may be, if they state an opinion loudly enough or repeat it sufficiently that it will somehow be transformed from "spew" to fact...

I suspect, April, that more people do have them than might be apparent. Perhaps it's a matter of not enough easy going people taking the time to add a comment, and potentially balance, to sites such as this one. And by the way, you're welcome...

I'll give this place a chance but I'll bet millions and millions of dollars it turns dark. Dark meaning Milwaukee insurgence.
BTW, Our second most coveted property development, the Walmart Neighborhood Market experienced an explosion of said insurgence this weekend. It was only a matter of time. The new Silver Spring Dr. Super Walmart could only handle so much. Very interesting seeing the one in Germantown a virtual ghost town now.
