This house's highest assessment during the peak in 2007, was $717,000 and it's current "estimated fair market value" is $647,000.
I'm not sure if Patch gets a commission percentage on the sale for advertising this, but it is really not fair to call this an $847k house because it is listed at that price. As for the square footage, it is certainly nice and finished well, but just because someone asks a price based on a realtors suggestion, certainly does not mean it is worth close to that much. Realtors need to do a better job informing their clients of realistic prices and sale expectations.

Have you been inside? How would you know what its worth? Maybe the assessor never went trough the house and based the assessment on an average. I love it when people who don't have a clue start posting.

Purchase price $847,000 is out of reach of the middle class and falls squarely in the lap of all those nasty folks that have gone to school, worked hard, established successful careers, and/or started businesses .... And haven't paid their "fair share" when examined through the ideology of the Divider-In-Chief.

Minorities were encouraged to sign up for loans for houses they could not afford in order to integrate more all and nearly all white neighborhoods. It was sold to idiot whites as a compassionate, egalitarian thing to do. Now we have vacant houses in every neighborhood. I suspect that many whites sold their $200k houses to buy a $300k house they could not afford in order to escape the influx of people with alien values. So whites along with minorities got foreclosed on. Cable TV signed on with all those home buyer shows that portrayed a mixed race couple or a single black woman buying her first house for a mere $200k, justified by her need to house her rag tag crew of little ones. The idiot legislators who make the laws rarely see or simply don't want to see the end game--first a huge run up in house prices followed by a massive collapse.

I think it is a nice house. 847,500 won't buy you that in Shorewood though. Seems like they have a lot of land. Assessments are higher than fair market right now. If someone wants to pay for it and can pay for it, why not? Isn't that what life is all about? I don't agree with lending money to people that may not be able to pay it back but a lot of us were not prepared for the recession. Everyone has the best of intentions but things happen. As for demographics, people should be able to live where they want to, regardless of race or judgement.

The only time I will buy a home is when property taxes go down in wisconsin its to expensive here to own a house even though wisconsin has great views :)

You will be renting forever then, as taxes will never go down significantly.
Prices per square foot makes it less expensive to own a home than pay rent on an equal sized space- even including taxes.
